World’s Museums Offer Amazing Artifacts for Alexander the Great Exhibit

Nearly 2,500 years after he conquered a giant tract of territory from Turkey to India, Alexander the Great has made it to Madrid. Until the 2nd of May, the Centro de Exposiciones Arte Canal will showcase more than 300 Alexander-related artifacts, films and tales from 40 prestigious museums around the world. Free Indian Photography Exhibit

Renowned Indian photographer Dayanita Singh made her Spanish debut last week at Fundación Mapfre’s Sala de Exposiciones with stirring photos that reveal the realities of life in India, a country of more than one billion people. Singh’s photographs focus on various themes, most notably the struggles of a transgender person in Delhi and the role of women in Indian society.

Free Sunday Organ Concert

Today,the 27th of February, is the day of the fifth cycle of the organ concert to coincide with the anniversaries of Franz Liszt and Jehan A. Republican Women-Potraits of AntiFranco Women

Javi Larrauri has brought together this exposition in orderto honour Spanish women and veterans who campaigned and fought against the Spanish ex dictator Franco and his regime.In this picture potraits he intends to show their beauty,wisdom,courage and sacrifice in the light of oppression and terror of those years.Each picture has a short biography of the woman activist and how they contributed.Some of these heroines have passed on and there will also be videos of interviews of those still alive. Free workshop-Intro to Zen

Mokusan Dojo Zen is offering a 1.5 hour session of zen at their studios for all interested this Saturday the 26th of March free.They will teach posture,breathing and attitude of the spirit.If you are attending come in light & comfortable clothing.The centre is at Campomanes, 10 – 5 ext drcha. Cooking Workshop:Vegeterian Food

Dont miss this vegetarian food preparation workshop where attendees will learn how to prepare dishes like soya fillets with cream and vegetarian cheese.There will be a short video projection just before the proceedings and a book presentation.The workshop takes place at Caldo Vegano (Calle de las Orquídeas, 7. 7 African Looks at Spain

Seven African photographers have photographed seven Spanish cities for the “7 miradas africanas sobre España” exhibit. Photographers Mamadou Gomis (Senegal), Patrick Wokmeni (Cameroon), Nii Obodai (Ghana), Arturo Bibang (Equatorial Guinea), Emeka Okereke (Nigeria), Zanele Muholi (South Africa) and Mohamed Konate (Mali) have photographed seven Spanish cities, each in their own unique creative style. On Sunday the 3rd of April, Madrid’s fittest citizens will fill the calles to compete in the city’s 11th annual Half-Marathon. Register here for 22 Euros so you can complete the endurance test and score some impressive bragging rights. Cheaper options abound, however.
